Bob Aylesbury was born in 1946 and in the 1970’s Bob was married with 2 daughters and was a shearer mechanic from Virginia. Bob Aylesbury started his Speedway career in 1966 sharing a car with Glen Catford. Bob then built his own race car only to sell it 2 years later to Glen Catford. Bob Aylesbury then moved to Western Australia for 2 years before returning in 1971 building a new race car for that season…. In 1972 Bob built a new Super modified / Sprintcar number 51 with a V8 Ford engine which was on the pace winning a few races and placings in feature events…. A rebuilt car with new suspension and fuel injection took some time to adjust but eventually winning his first feature and a placing in the South Australian Super Modified titles.
